In Austin, Texas, a four-week-old Husky puppy named Kiss faced a dire situation when he was heartlessly abandoned in a trash can. Alone and on the brink of collapse, his faint cries were heard by a passerby who decided to investigate.
What they found was distressing—a frail puppy struggling to hang on to life.
This Good Samaritan quickly acted, rescuing the nearly unconscious and freezing puppy from the garbage bin. Understanding the urgency of the situation, they rushed Kiss to an emergency veterinary clinic.

The clinic’s team was alarmed by his condition: his blood sugar was too low to measure, and he lacked the strength to eat.
To save his life, the veterinary staff meticulously worked to revive him, warming his small body and administering essential fluids.
Though he could not lift his head, Kiss showed an incredible will to survive. The next morning, he was moved to the Austin Animal Center for ongoing medical care.
Realizing that Kiss needed 24-hour attention, the staff transferred him to Austin Pets Alive! (APA!), where he received intensive treatment.

Vets at APA! tirelessly took care of him, stabilizing his blood sugar, rehydrating him, and starting him on antibiotics to aid his fragile recovery.
Austin Pets Alive! shared Kiss’s story on Facebook, highlighting the costly care involved in saving him.
“In a private clinic, care like this would cost over $1,000. At APA!, we do everything we can to keep that cost lower for pets like Kiss,” they stated, emphasizing both the financial challenge and their dedication to helping pets in need.

The public responded strongly, expressing outrage over the cruelty Kiss suffered and gratitude for those who intervened.
Currently, Kiss is looking for a foster home in Central Texas where he can regain his strength. Once fully recovered, he will be ready for the loving forever home he deserves.
Thanks to the compassionate act of a stranger and the dedicated work of rescue teams, Kiss has been given a second chance at life, narrowly escaping a tragic fate.
