An 11-month-old Labrador retriever mix named Scarlett is losing hope in humanity at the BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas.
Despite efforts to save her, Scarlett’s current foster family has admitted they lack the experience needed to care for a dog as fearful and withdrawn as she is.
Scarlett arrived at the shelter as a stray on May 10, 2024. Weighing 45 pounds, she was visibly frightened, huddling in a corner and trembling whenever anyone tried to interact with her.

Initially set to be euthanized on May 15, Scarlett was rescued just in time by a BARC foster parent.
However, Scarlett has returned to the shelter since then. Her fear of humans is not her fault; she simply hasn’t learned that people can be kind.
To help her thrive, Scarlett needs a foster parent who has experience with dogs who need extra care and patience.

If you know of any rescue organizations or individuals who can help Scarlett, please spread the word. By sharing her story with friends, family, and on social media, you can play a part in finding her the experienced care she desperately needs.
Together, we can make a difference in saving lives.
