Sarah Launch and Kelly Michael stepped in to rescue a special dog named Roosevelt, affectionately known as Roo, from the Chicago Animal Care and Control.
Roo, a 5-year-old pup, had been diagnosed with terminal bone cancer, prompting the compassionate couple to provide him with the happiest final chapter of his life.

Despite not knowing much about Roo’s past, Sarah and Kelly were determined to make his last six months extraordinary. Prompted by a call from Kelly, Sarah, an executive producer at Comcast, knew they had to act.
“We knew something was wrong, but we didn’t know what. She called to tell me that he had six months,” recalled Sarah, her voice trembling with emotion.

Deciding to cherish every moment, Sarah and Kelly created a bucket list for Roo, documenting his adventures with the hashtag #LiveLikeRoo to inspire others.
Ro believed to be a pitbull/Shar Pei mix, embarked on a series of memorable experiences, from therapeutic massages to indulging in his favorite treats like ice cream and tacos.
Despite his illness, Roo’s spirit remained indomitable. “He doesn’t act ill and is very energetic,” Sarah shared.

Even during hikes in Starved Rock State Park, Roactively led the way, oblivious to his condition. His story touched hearts across the nation, drawing widespread interest and support.
“We just want people to know Roo and know his story,” Sarah expressed, reflecting on the impact of their journey.
Through their efforts, Sarah and Kelly inspired others to cherish each moment with their pets and embrace life’s adventures wholeheartedly.

As they navigate Roo’s uncertain prognosis, Sarah and Kelly focus daily on treasuring. “He doesn’t know he’s going to die,” Sarah remarked. “So we just go with it and give him whatever he wants.”
In the face of inevitable challenges, Sarah and Kelly’s unwavering love and dedication shine brightly, illuminating Roo’s final months with joy and compassion.
