Have you ever wondered what your furry friend is up to when you’re not home?
As much as I love taking my dogs everywhere, there are times when they have to stay behind. It never occurred to me to install a camera indoors. However, I can’t help but be curious about what they get up to while I’m out.
One woman from Durham, North Carolina, decided to monitor her dog, Sundae, a 10-year-old Labrador, with an indoor camera when she wasn’t home.
Sundae’s behavior, captured on camera, took her owner and social media by surprise.
The dog’s owner, curious about why her belongings kept ending up in Sundae’s bed, installed a camera to solve the mystery. Every time she returned home, she found her Lab surrounded by socks, shoes, and random items like chapstick—all things with her scent.
“I’d come back and she’d have my shoes, socks, basically any piece of clothing—and sometimes random things like ChapStick in her bed. I’d never actually seen her in the act of putting stuff in her bed, and was just really curious to see how she does it,” said Sundae’s owner.
Soon after setting up the camera, the owner went out for groceries, leaving Sundae at home with the new gadget. The camera sent alerts to her phone when it detected movement, and she quickly checked the live feed.
What would Sundae do while her human was away? Would she wreak havoc, or have a meltdown in their absence?
Contrary to expectations of chaos, Sundae simply lay by the front door, looking forlorn, waiting for her owner to return.
“Every time she repositioned by the door, I would get a notification,” shared the dog’s owner. “My heart literally broke; I was tearing up in the grocery store watching her wait for me.”
The good news is that dog-friendly places like Hobby Lobby and T.J.Maxx allow Sundae to accompany her owner on shopping trips.
Sundae’s heartwarming video of waiting by the door touched viewers on TikTok, racking up over 2 million views.
But being a viral sensation is nothing new for Sundae. This Labrador is also celebrated for her stylish attire.
The fun began when Sundae was bit by ants, requiring an ointment for her rash. To keep her from licking it, her owner ingeniously fashioned a pair of sweatpants for the dog to wear.
Sundae took to her new outfit, leading her owner to expand her wardrobe with sunglasses, jewelry, and wigs—transforming the pooch into a fashion icon.
