After being overlooked and neglected for a considerable time, a dog named Petey finally found the loving home he deserved. The adorable canine, who was initially housed in a high-intake shelter in North Carolina, was transferred to the SPCA of Wake County in early October to increase his chances of adoption.
Despite being young, barely a year old, Petey had spent the longest time at the county shelter. In an effort to attract a family, SPCA Wake posted his picture online, hoping this would be the key to finding him the perfect home. Their efforts paid off when a family came across his image and instantly fell in love with Petey.

Once Petey moved into his new home, his new family started sharing delightful pictures of him bonding and playing with them, including moments with his furry sibling. Among the shared snapshots was one capturing Petey snuggled on a blanket, wearing a joyful grin that perfectly expressed his happiness.
The shelter shared this image on Facebook, noting, “That is the smile of a dog that knows he’s home.”

Petey’s new family has shared that he is settling in wonderfully. He adores playing fetch, relaxing in bed, exploring the yard, and enjoys playing with every dog he meets, particularly his new sibling. They describe Petey as the perfect addition to their family, appreciating his sweet nature and cheerful presence.
Indeed, it seems Petey is overjoyed to have found them just as much as they are to have found him.
