A stray dog named Little Toes once found herself seeking shelter on a pile of rubbish in Missouri, yearning for a helping hand to rescue her from her tough situation.
Her fortunes took a turn for the better when a compassionate individual spotted her plight and reached out to the Stray Rescue of St. Louis for assistance.

The rescue mission was quickly set in motion with Donna Lochmann at the helm. Upon their arrival, the team discovered Little Toes, frail and hungry, rummaging through the trash. Initially, the pup was shy and retreated behind a trash can, but Donna managed to win her trust with a can of sausage as an offering.
Surprisingly, instead of indulging in the food, Little Toes approached Donna directly, her eyes conveying a silent plea for help. “It was as if she was saying, ‘Are you here to help me?’” Donna later recounted.

With tenderness, Donna coaxed Little Toes into her vehicle, where the dog, feeling safe and at ease, dozed off on her rescuer’s lap during the journey to the shelter. The name “Little Toes” was chosen for her because her toes were cold when she was found, although her warm nature quickly won over everyone at the shelter.
With the care and attention she received, Little Toes was soon back on her feet. She expressed her thankfulness with heartfelt hugs for everyone who tended to her needs.

Soon enough, Little Toes was ready to transition to a foster home. Her new foster family was smitten by her charm and decided to make things permanent by adopting her. Little Toes now enjoys the loving home and companionship she had always hoped for.
Thanks to the alert passerby and the devoted rescuers who acted promptly, Little Toes is guaranteed a future free from loneliness and hunger.
