Underneath the scorching sun with temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius, a vulnerable pup named Alice was found lying still in a discarded box by the roadside.
Her feeble body was trembling, her eyes silently pleading for help. She lacked the strength to lift her head, overwhelmed by hunger, exhaustion, and despair, as described by Humane Voices (HV).
As I moved closer to her, Alice remained where she was, gazing up with resigned acceptance.

Crouching down, I reached out to her, and though she flinched initially, she soon permitted me to touch her. It felt like she recognized that help had finally arrived.
Carefully, I gathered her into my arms, shocked by how light and delicate she was. Alice’s fragile body was little more than skin and bones, with no energy left to resist.

I placed her in a warm box, shielding her from the oppressive heat, and vowed to her that she would never face loneliness again.
Alice’s situation was dire. I took her home immediately, but by nightfall, her condition had worsened. The following morning, in a desperate bid to save her, I drove her to a veterinary hospital in the city.

The veterinary team was taken aback by her state—ravenous, severely dehydrated, and suffering from brain damage. X-rays revealed a troubling discovery: a stone in her stomach, indicating she’d resorted to eating whatever she could find to survive.
Despite the daunting prognosis, Alice still had a fighting spirit. The veterinarians provided constant care, closely monitoring her progress.

Gradually, Alice began responding to their treatment. Each passing day saw her regaining a bit of her strength, and after a month, she managed her first steps unaided.
This moment was filled with hope—a testament to Alice’s determination to survive.

By the time two months had passed, Alice’s recovery was nothing short of remarkable. She was ready to leave the hospital, her eyes once again bright with curiosity and vitality.
I welcomed her to my home, where a cozy bed and loving environment awaited. She enthusiastically explored her new home, her tail wagging with excitement as she realized she was finally in a place of love.

Alice’s transformation was indeed miraculous. With proper nutrition, regular veterinary checkups, and endless love, she flourished into a joyful, playful dog.
The pup once found listless under the sun was now brimming with energy, dashing around the house, chasing toys, and snuggling up for naps.

Alice became more than just a rescue story; she became my family. Her journey from suffering to happiness highlighted the resilience of the spirit and the impact of kindness.
Meeting her gaze today, filled with happiness and brightness, it’s clear to me that while she was once abandoned, Alice will never face solitude again.
