An unexpected guest arrived on a neighborhood porch in Montreal—a cat without ears, searching for something to eat. A compassionate resident, Isabelle, spotted the orange feline and immediately felt compelled to provide help.
Concerned for the stray’s wellbeing, Isabelle contacted Chatons Orphelins Montréal, a local animal rescue organization. Celine Crom from the rescue recounted to Love Meow, “The cat appeared sick and miserable.
Isabelle managed to capture him and asked for our assistance. Naturally, we agreed to help.”

Through social media, they discovered the cat had been wandering the streets alone for several years, without a home or caregiver.
The harsh Canadian winters had left their mark on the cat—his ears suffered frostbite, and parts were lost due to severe infection.
Despite these hardships, the feline had managed to survive the cold. When rescuers arrived, the cat willingly walked into a carrier, drawn by the promise of food.

A veterinary examination determined the cat, named Hansik, to be around seven years old. He was infested with fleas, bore battle wounds, and tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus).
The veterinary team provided him with antibiotics for his injuries and dental surgery to alleviate his pain and restore his ability to eat comfortably.
Hansik, having weathered numerous challenges, demonstrated remarkable resilience. Although his recovery was prolonged due to his FIV status, he persevered thanks to dedicated care from veterinarians and a foster home over nearly three months.

Celine reflected on his transformation, saying, “A few months ago, he was outside, alone with frozen ears. Now, he is healed and learning to trust humans.”
Initially shy, Hansik gradually began to approach and interact with his caregivers. From hiding on the first day to following his humans around, he has blossomed into a sociable companion.
Hansik now revels in attention, eagerly seeks cuddles, and insists on sleeping with his humans. No longer content with solitude, he enjoys the comfort and security of indoor life. The once-reticent ginger cat has evolved into a healthy, happy, and affectionate pet.

His heartwarming journey leaves one step remaining—finding a loving, peaceful home where he can share his newfound affection.
Hansik relishes snuggling in his cozy bed, surrounded by care and warmth. Spread his story and help him find a forever family!
