Last Update:

Years ago, a tiny puppy named Dottie was searching for her forever home. Her breeder believed that Casey Walters and her partner, who manage the New Zealand Chihuahua Rescue Center, would be the perfect family for her.

From the moment they met, Casey and her partner were captivated by Dottie’s small size and big personality.

However, as time passed, they noticed Dottie wasn’t growing like other puppies. Concerned, they took her to the vet, where they discovered that Dottie had dwarfism, along with other health challenges.

Despite these issues, Dottie remained carefree and playful, enjoying life with her doggy companions.

Under Casey and her partner’s care, Dottie quickly formed a close bond with Pepper, one of their Chihuahuas.

Pepper took on a maternal role, showering affectionately to Dottie and protecting her when the other dogs got too rough.

A few years into caring for Dottie, Casey and her partner learned that Dottie’s biological mother, Emily, was being retired from breeding.

Without hesitation, they also decided to adopt Emily, bringing mother and daughter together.

Despite her many health obstacles, Dottie is a joyful and beloved member of her family. Her charm and resilience win over everyone she meets, whether they are dog lovers or not.
