Celeste, a resilient dog mother, has captured hearts across the internet with her remarkable story. At just two years old, she was abandoned while pregnant, left to navigate the dangers of street life.
Despite her gentle and loving nature, she faced the challenges of giving birth and caring for her puppies in harsh conditions.

Living as a street dog is fraught with difficulties, especially while trying to nourish and protect five hungry puppies.
When Celeste and her litter were discovered, they were in dire condition, emaciated from the struggle to survive.

Celeste sacrificed her well-being to ensure her puppies received nourishment and warmth during the frigid winter months.
“She was so emaciated, and these puppies were nursing like crazy. She just did her duty as a mom even though she was starving,” recalled Elaine, Celeste’s adoptive mother.
Remarkably, despite their rocky start, all of Celeste’s puppies were found to be in good health, while their mother bore the visible scars of malnutrition from her tireless efforts to care for them.

The BC SPCA highlighted Celeste’s selflessness, stating, “Celeste would rather starve to death than starve her puppies. She sacrificed everything to keep her puppies safe after a difficult life outside, and it’s time she received the same affection.”
Celeste’s fate turned positive when she and her puppies were taken in by Elaine Nelson-Hosak, an adoptive mother affiliated with the British Columbia SPCA.
This union felt serendipitous, as it occurred shortly after Elaine lost her closest friend. Celeste and Elaine needed companionship and healing, and their bond blossomed almost immediately.

Under Elaine’s care, Celeste began a gradual recovery, following a careful feeding regimen of six small, nutrient-rich meals a day.
As a result, she gained an impressive 90 pounds. Four of her five puppies have already found loving homes, reuniting with their families.
Celeste’s transformation is evident in her interactions with Elaine, who lovingly calls her “Mom.” Now, she enjoys a life filled with comfort, warmth, and affection—far removed from her struggles on the streets.
Safe and loved, Celeste has truly found her place in the world, embodying the spirit of resilience and maternal love.
