In today’s world, the increasing number of abandoned and mistreated animals is a growing concern, and stories like the one I came across this morning are truly heart-wrenching.

I encountered a puppy that had been tossed over a fence—unable to sit up and visibly in distress, the pup was crying out in pain. This raises a pressing question: why would someone commit such an unkind act?

Sadly, it’s not uncommon to find dogs and puppies wandering the streets. Some individuals misguidedly think they are helping by dropping these animals over the fences of small shelters.

This situation becomes even more challenging when those who attempt to help face criticism from others.

This morning was yet another example. Inside the shelter, I discovered a sick puppy, likely injured from the fall. The puppy was unable to sit, cried out in pain, and appeared to suffer from respiratory problems.

I promptly began administering fluids and antibiotics to provide relief and hydration.

While attending to the injured pup, a woman came by with another puppy that was in good health. She explained that she couldn’t bear the thought of leaving it on the street or discarding it somewhere else.

The puppy appeared hungry, but thankfully, it ate heartily.

The harsh treatment of innocent animals is indeed distressing. At the very least, they deserve kindness and care.

It’s crucial to educate the community about responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spaying and neutering to curb future cases of abandonment and neglect.

Moreover, advocating for stricter laws and penalties against those who harm animals is vital. By working together, we can create meaningful change and secure a hopeful future for our animal companions.
