While the rescuers were relieved to find Malea unharmed, they were heartbroken by the cruelty she had faced. “We tried to hold back tears, but this really choked us up. It was so hot inside; we’re thankful she didn’t pass out,” the rescue shared on Facebook. The thought of what could have happened if she had remained in that heat lingered with them.

As they drove to the shelter, another call for help came through. Two puppies had been left abandoned in a downtown parking lot and needed rescue. The team quickly diverted to collect the joyful puppies, and with all three dogs secured, continued to the shelter.
The shelter was already full, so the puppies were placed in foster care, while Malea joined the Rovernight program. This initiative allows dogs to stay in homes for a few days, providing them with extra love and care.
“She’s in a loving home being spoiled! She gets along great with other dogs and is gentle with little kids, too,” reported Natalie Thomson, the rescue’s Director of Marketing.
All three dogs are now receiving the attention they deserve as they wait for their forever homes.
