Sebastian first spotted a single puppy lying on the roadside, suffering in the sweltering 105-degree heat. Heartbroken by the sight, he went to help the little dog but was in for a surprise.

“When I called the puppy to me, six more emerged from the bushes. I was in awe,” Sebastian shared with KLEW TV.

Suddenly, what seemed to be one abandoned puppy turned into a group of seven. It appeared as though the first pup was ensuring the coast was clear for its siblings to join.

Determined to make sure no other animals were in danger, Sebastian enlisted the help of a local rancher to search the area. They looked for additional dogs or a potential mother, but no adult dogs were found.

“There’s no one around for miles, so they were clearly left there by someone,” Sebastian observed.

Distressed by the thought of these puppies being abandoned in scorching conditions, Sebastian decided he couldn’t leave them behind. The pups seemed to view the bush as their only refuge, appearing timid and wary at first.

“The puppies were nervous to approach me because the bush was the only shade they had,” he explained.

Sebastian gently gathered all seven puppies, placed them in his car, and took them home to provide care.

Wanting to share this rare experience, he documented the rescue and posted the video on Facebook, addressing it to the individual who abandoned the puppies.

After giving the puppies food and water, Sebastian transported them to the Lewis Clark Animal Shelter in Lewiston, Idaho, where they received proper medical attention.

The staff treated the puppies for dehydration, administered flea treatments, spayed or neutered them, and provided their first vaccinations.

“I named them words that mean ‘river,’ since I found them by the Grande Ronde River,” noted Sebastian.

Sebastian didn’t stop at just rescuing the puppies. He, along with a friend, set up a donation page, successfully raising thousands of dollars to support the shelter’s ongoing work.

“It doesn’t take much time to do something nice. If you’re in the right situation, do the right thing,” he reflected.

Ultimately, one of the puppies found a new home with Sebastian’s close friend, while the remaining six were adopted through the shelter.

Sebastian’s quick response and caring nature ensured these seven puppies now have a second chance at a happy life.
