It’s heartbreaking to think about the harsh realities some dogs face due to the neglect of those who should be caring for them. One such case involved Daisy, a young Goldendoodle who found herself in dire conditions.
Her owner failed to provide her with the necessary care, leaving Daisy malnourished and weak without enough food or attention.
Daisy wasn’t alone in this situation; her sibling shared her struggles. Both dogs were in peril with little hope left. The situation caught the attention of Summer Ipock after she stumbled upon a post in a lost-and-found dog group on Facebook.

The post, made by a woman in Tulsa, Oklahoma, talked about a neighbor’s dogs suffering from neglect. Sadly, one of the dogs had already passed away, and Daisy’s condition was deteriorating.
Despite local authorities being alerted, no effective action was taken. Animal control couldn’t reach the owner, and the police were unable to intervene.
This prompted the concerned woman to seek help through social media, hoping for action from someone who cared as much as she did. That someone turned out to be Ipock.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Ipock shared, “Even though Daisy was in terrible condition, I could tell it was a doodle — that I obviously have a soft spot for — and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.”
Motivated to help, she decided to take matters into her own hands.
Ipock tracked down the address from the post and found out that the property was rented. Her efforts to contact the landlords went unanswered.

Animal control had told the owner to take the dogs to a vet, promising to follow up, but by the next day, no one had come to check on Daisy.
Ipock became increasingly alarmed when additional locks were placed on the gates and a makeshift dog house appeared. It was raining heavily, and she feared Daisy wouldn’t survive if left to endure the elements longer.
Determined to act, Ipock offered the owner $500 to release Daisy to her care.

With the help of a police officer friend who facilitated the exchange, Ipock was relieved to find the owner willing to surrender Daisy without conflict.
Meeting Daisy in person, Ipock was struck by her poor health. Daisy was nearly hairless, with visible ribs and spine, and her skin was discolored and flaking.
Despite her ordeal, Daisy was eager for affection. Ipock promptly took her to a veterinarian for an emergency examination. The tests revealed hookworms, elevated white blood cell count, a skin infection, anemia, and fleas.

Daisy was treated with dewormers, antibiotics, and flea medication, and received a much-needed bath. The vet staff praised her cooperative nature.
Following a spay procedure and treatment for her ears, Daisy began to recover in Ipock’s home. At just two years old, she quickly bonded with Ipock and her two dogs.
With proper nutrition and care, Daisy’s health improved dramatically, and she grew fond of her rescuer.

Ipock was touched by Daisy’s affectionate and resilient spirit. “I’m just blown away that [Daisy] has such a loving and fun personality despite her past. She’s beyond resilient,” Ipock remarked.
While Ipock cannot adopt Daisy permanently, she has found a family ready to offer her a loving home. “I know Daisy will love her new mom and/or dad as much as she loves me. I’ll make sure she has the best home possible,” Ipock promised.
Thanks to Summer Ipock’s intervention, Daisy has been given a fresh start and can now look forward to a future filled with love and happiness.
