In Bloomington, Indiana, a heartbreaking discovery unfolded in a local park when a passerby noticed a neglected and injured boxer-pit bull mix lying helplessly on the ground.

Deeply concerned, they immediately contacted the sheriff’s department for assistance.

The shaken dog, who was later named Daisy, found temporary safety in the car of Jeff and his fiancée Rosie Ahlberg. The nearby animal shelter was closed, and the couple agreed to welcome Daisy into their home for the night.

The following day, Daisy received essential care at the City of Bloomington Animal Care and Control facility, where her injuries were assessed.

Alongside some burns and open wounds, she had a ruptured ACL, a damaged meniscus, and a luxating patella, all of which suggested she had endured a great deal of suffering.

Remarkably, Daisy, still quite young, was already known to have had four different owners.

Daisy’s most recent owner explained that she had been abandoned after being hit by a car back in April.

Moved by the dog’s plight, Ahlberg and Jeff felt it was their opportunity to make a meaningful difference in Daisy’s life.

Despite owning another rescue dog and two cats, the couple decided to adopt Daisy, motivated by her gentle nature and how seamlessly she adapted to the new environment.

Ahlberg commented on their decision to adopt Daisy, saying, “We truly wanted to give this dog the chance to know love and what a wonderful home is.”

Daisy quickly settled into her new surroundings, demonstrating an ability to enjoy affection, remain calm around loud noises, and interact well with the other animals in the household.

“She takes up less room on the bed, but she deserves it because she is such a good dog,” Ahlberg remarked.

Ahlberg also shared a touching detail of their routine, saying, “Daisy’s head is constantly plastered against the bedroom window when I leave for school in the morning.

I look up from my driveway, and it’s clear how much she loves her family.” Even in the short time Daisy has been with them, her affection for her new home is evident.

While Daisy’s condition is improving, she is still in need of surgery to heal her physical wounds completely.
