While on the hunt for a new dog, I followed the advice given to me and headed to the riverbank, where a farmer had reported seeing one.
After searching for a couple of hours, I discovered the dog struggling in the river, clearly in distress. It was heartbreaking to witness his struggle, made worse by signs of both age and neglect.
Once I managed to rescue him, I dried him off and provided food, which brought about some immediate improvement. However, it soon became evident that he was paralyzed, explaining why he couldn’t make it back home.
His body was also covered in ulcers, particularly on his legs and lower body, pointing to extended suffering.
Upon arriving at the vet, the atmosphere was tense as the medical team rushed to evaluate his condition.
The extent of his injuries left us all shocked, with bruises suggesting a violent encounter and necrotic wounds indicating a long period of neglect. It raised the painful question – had someone cruelly tossed him into the river?
It was clear that this dog had gone through severe trauma, as seen in his critically impaired liver and a herniated disc.
Our path towards his recovery was fraught with difficulties, yet slowly, there were signs of improvement. Despite our dedication, it became clear that he would never be able to walk again.
Although his future remains uncertain, our commitment to providing love and care for him is unwavering. We are determined to offer him the peace and comfort he deserves during his golden years.
