Despite knowing little about Atlas’s past, she learned he had previously lived with someone who fed him table scraps.
Initially uncertain about adopting Atlas as he would be her first cat, Rebecca quickly felt a strong connection. In a matter of minutes, she realized their paths were meant to cross, and she decided to bring him home to Orlando, Florida.
As they got acquainted, Rebecca soon noticed Atlas’s unique trait—his missing tail. She speculated that he was born without it, observing that his little nub just wiggled when he moved.
Atlas’s personality unfolded gradually, revealing his shyness around strangers. Rebecca explained that he usually hides from new people, but she has a special technique to coax him out.
She sings to him, and once he feels comfortable, he will rub his head on her hand and offer a gentle meow. A maestro of meows, Atlas prefers subtle expressions, especially when he’s feeling affectionate or relaxed.
His nighttime routine is filled with amusing antics, where he entertains himself by stretching, meowing, and comically sticking out his tongue. Rebecca finds these performances endlessly entertaining.
Remarkably, Atlas recognizes people by their scent, though sometimes this skill leads to humorous mishaps. Upon Rebecca’s return from trips, Atlas occasionally struggles to identify her, causing him to hide until she serenades him back into familiarity.
The most amusing episodes occur when he doesn’t recognize his feline companion post-grooming, leading to a big sniff followed by a confused hiss. Rebecca feels that choosing Atlas at the Florida shelter was an excellent decision.
He offers companionship, especially during challenging times, and she is committed to showering him with endless love and care, ensuring his happiness throughout his life.
